Holiday Coffee Klatch
A great crowd of neighbors gathered at the Coffee Klatch on December 3rd at our home. Police Officers Lockett and Noiff joined us in enjoying lots of delicious homemade goodies and lots of good conversations. We were also pleased to have three-month old Grant bring his parents to meet their neighbors. If you haven’t been to a Coffee Klatch, please do so next year.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

It’s My Park Day
NPNA volunteers again turned their considerable energies to creek clearing and garden maintenance on Its My Park Day, November 5th. With time and careful attention, the plantings have taken on a natural look that brightens the greenbelt.
The creek clearing efforts remove much of the unsightly trash, with the added benefit that so much plastic will not travel further down the watershed, polluting the Trinity River, and beyond. A substantial quantity of brush and tree branches was removed from the Alta Vista Bridge, where it was impeding water flow.
Typical of NPNA events, it was an enjoyable morning for the participants, including some new faces, some “veterans” and a good number of young volunteers, already good neighbors and citizens. Thanks to the Social Committee for good coffee, donuts, and juice to fuel the efforts.
On behalf of all the creek volunteers, Merry Christmas, and Good Health in the New Year.

Fall Meeting
NPNA members met October 20, 2016 at Withers Elementary for the annual fall meeting. They enjoyed feature speaker, Hugh Aynesworth, speaking about an interesting behind the scenes Dallas story. They also heard an update on the Northaven Trail and information about crime in our area from the Northwest Patrol Division of the Dallas Police Department — we live in one of the safest areas in Dallas.
During the meeting officers for the 2017-2018 board were elected: Julie Reeves, President; Bryan Shahan, VP Membership; Jim McKay, VP Section Directors; Jason Bloom, Secretary; Mitch Deshotels, Section 2 Director; Jim Ming, Section 4 Director; Ann Irvine, Section 6 Director; Mindy Stanley, Section 8 Director, Louise Smith, Section 10 Director; Annette & Timothy Rivera, Section 12 Director. Also introduced to the membership were new section directors who are filling vacant positions: Shirley Smith, Section 1 and Jason Contreras, Section 3. Thank you all for your commitment to NPNA!
The membership committee kicked off the 2017 membership drive. 55 members, including 5 VIP members, paid their 2017 dues at the meeting.

A large crowd of neighbors of all ages attended the NPNA Ice Cream Social to honor our Dallas Police Force in Northaven Park last Tuesday evening. The weather was perfect and 2 of our finest DPD officers were there to share the fun. Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream offered 4 favors of ice cream, which was delicious. Ice Cream was served to 200 people.
